Exactly a year later, on 11 March 2021, a major Bollywood film was released in theaters. English Medium was released in theaters 365 days ago on 12 March 2020. In these 365 days, over the top, paid subscribers of OTT grew so fast that the digital segment s earnings grew by 35%.
According to media reports that now people will not go to the cinema hall to see every film. Now people will already decide which film they want to watch at home on OTT and which movie they will go to the cinema hall to watch.
The theater will never end. People like Suryavanshi would like to go to the cinema. But people will no longer come to theaters only for family dramas or films built around relationships.
According to the report, in the year 2020, TV received a total of 77.8 thousand crore rupees and OTT got 21.8 thousand crore rupees. And in the coming two years i.e. by the end of FY 2022, TV s revenue will be reduced to 76.9 thousand crores, but OTT will reach 33.8 thousand crores.
This means that TV s share of entertainment industry s total earnings in the next two years was 44.4%, which will come down to 41.2%, the film industry will come down from 10.5% to 9.7%. There will be only OTT which will increase from 12.5% to 18.1%.
Till now, out of 100 rupees coming for publicity, 60 rupees TV, 30 rupees digital and 10 rupees used to go around. But this figure is going to reverse in the next three years. 60 percent of the money will be used for publicity on digital ie OTT. Big stars will go on OTT to promote their films.

Ravi Bulle, the writer-director of the film which released the MX Player last month, says that if OTT were not there, it would have worked harder than ever to release it. Because the cinema is full of films of big stars only. Such films used to remain confined till the film festival. But due to OTT, it is able to reach the general audience. And we are getting very good response.
