Nowadays you will easily find phones and smartphones in every house. Many times we want to sell our old phones. At the same time, our phone is lost or stolen. We also need an IMEI number to lodge a police complaint. In all of these situations, the first IMEI number is missed, which we do not have, and due to its absence, we are not able to sell the phone online nor get the stolen phone tracked.
All mobile phones in the world have a unique International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) number, which can be used to identify them. This article of our day is about this topic, how do we know the IMEI number on any mobile phone and along with this we will also know what the IMEI Number is.
IMEI which has full form International Mobile Equipment Identity. There is a unique identification or serial number that occurs in all mobile phones and smartphones. It is normally of 15 digits. Most phones have an IMEI number, but dual SIM phones have two. IMEI is used only to identify the device.
The IMEI number can be found on the back of your phone, under the battery pack, or on the silver sticker on the box in your phone. This number is different in every mobile device. The IMEI number indicates where the mobile device is made and what is the model number of the device.
The universal method of finding your IMEI number will also work on an iPhone, Android phone or any other phone, open your phone app and dial the following code:
* # 06 #
A box will pop up with your IMEI number, and now you can note that number and then tap OK to close the box.
Settings> About phone> Status
Sometimes this can happen elsewhere:
Settings> General> About device> Status
Now you can note this IMEI Number somewhere else.
It is very easy to find the IMEI number of your iPhone. Simply Go:
Settings> General> About
Now scroll down and see the IMEI entry in the list. You can touch and hold the number to copy it to the clipboard and then paste it elsewhere.
Some devices display the IMEI number on the SIM tray. Older phones with removable batteries usually have an IMEI number written under the battery.
If your iPhone or Android phone has been stolen and you have forgotten to find and write the IMEI number, there is still a possibility that you can find it. If you have kept the box in which your phone came, then this will be a good chance for you, you will get a sticker outside the box which will have your phone s IMEI number written on it.
One of the main objectives of IMEI Number is to identify mobile devices. Their second objective or intention is to prevent theft. If a mobile device is universally identifiable, a thief cannot change the SIM card on the phone and cannot even expect to keep the phone. IMEI numbers are hard-coded into device hardware, making them virtually impossible to replace without harming the device in any way.
If you have an iPhone 5 or newer iPhone, its IMEI is written on the back panel. In this case, the IMEI number can be noted by flipping the mobile. If your iPhone is 4 or older, then the IMEI number will be printed on its SIM tray.
