First underground metro run 10 January 1863 in London

The oldest underground metro rail in the world was inaugurated on this day in the year 1863. In 1853 the responsibility for this work was given to the Chief Engineer Sir John Faller. The first underground metro ran between Paddington to Farringdon Street stations 10 years later. The first metro in India was launched in Kolkata in 1984, while the Delhi Metro was launched in 2002.

Georgis is also known as Herze.
