 Myanmar Navy formally appointed INS Sindhuveer Submarine

 The Myanmar Navy has officially installed the submarine INS Sindhuveer, which was handed over to the country by the Indian Navy in October 2020. It is the first submarine in the Myanmar Navy arsenal. The submarine for the Myanmar Navy has been refurbished by the state-run defense shipbuilder, Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL), Visakhapatnam.

About INS Sindhuveer:

INS Sindhuveer was commissioned on 25 December 2020, marking the 73rd anniversary of the Myanmar Navy.

The name of INS Sindhuveer has been changed to UMS Minye Thinkthu by the Myanmar Navy.

It is the first submarine in the Myanmar Navy arsenal. It is a diesel-electric kilo-class submarine, which was in the Indian Navy since 1988.
