The PM Wi-Wani Access Network Interface (PM Wani ) will bring a major Wi-Fi revolution in the country. Under this, one crore data centers will be built in the country. Communications Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that in the cabinet meeting on Wednesday, the framework of public Wi-Fi network has been approved. The PM Wi-Fi Access Network Interface (PM Wani ) will bring a major Wi-Fi revolution in the country. Under this, one crore data centers will be built in the country.
Ravi Shankar Prasad said that public data office (PDO), public data office aggregators and app providers will be included in the PM-Vani scheme. He said, "There will be no need to take any license for PDO, nor will there be any need for their registration. No charges will apply on these. PDOs can also be small shops or shared service centers (CSCs).
Ravi Shankar Prasad said that India is first in the world in the app economy. Today 120 crore people in the country have a mobile phone. Of these, 600 million are smartphones. Information is the biggest power. He said that we saw that everything was closed in the lockdown, but communication continued. The entire IT system continued from work to home. Keeping this in mind, this scheme has been started.
In the first tier, businessmen can avail Internet access via Airtel, Jio or any other network, Wi-Fi facility is also available to them. Talking about the second tier, the public data office will help in providing internet to everyone. After this, in the last phase, ordinary citizens can avail this internet Wi-Fi facility through an app.
